Francisco Conceição continues to climb the steps of full affirmation in FC Porto's main team. The 21-year-old winger was decisive in the hard-fought victory against Boavista (2-1), on Sunday night, by 'pulling out' a beautiful cross for Taremi's header, and continues to show himself to FC Porto fans and... Roberto Martínez. 

At a time when the national coach is preparing the official announcement of the players called up for Euro'2024, which will take place next Tuesday, May 21, Francisco Conceição may be one of the surprises in the entourage that will travel to Germany and try to repeat the feat of 2016.

Against the checkered team, in the Invicta derby, the young Coimbra native reached the mark of six assists this season, doubling the record he had made in the two previous seasons, in which he lined up with the status of a senior player.

In addition, Francisco Conceição has also scored eight goals, a number that he has only managed to surpass once, when he played for FC Porto's U-17s. 

Bitter debut in the national team

Francisco Conceição, like Jota Silva, from Vitória SC, were two of the players tested by the national coach in Portugal's last call-up for private matches. The FC Porto winger played in the second half of the visit to Slovenia, but could not prevent the Portuguese defeat, having played a total of 45 minutes. 

Trincão is a rival and Pedro Neto is practically out of the equation 

Looking at the various options available to Roberto Martínez when it comes to the winger position, Conceição's biggest rival may live in Alvalade. Francisco Trincão is also signing a high-class season, with 10 goals and nine assists for Sporting, and is in the running to be called up for Euro'2024. 

Further away from a call-up is Pedro Neto, a Wolverhampton player who suffered a serious injury in March and has not played since then. 

On May 21, all doubts surrounding Roberto Martínez's list will be cleared up. From 1 pm onwards, the national coach will appear in the press room to list, one by one, the 26 players who will represent Portugal in Germany.
