Walking football? A walking football school has been created in Spain

The City Council of San Fernando, in Cádiz, has just presented the first Walking Football school in Spain. This is a football modality adapted to people over 55 years old that avoids any health risk, since it is practiced... walking. The goal is to fight against sedentarism and promote social relationships among the elderly.
The city's Sports Councilor, Antonio Rojas, positively valued the fact that San Fernando is "the pioneering city in the creation of the first school of this sport, which is being so successful in other European countries", in statements to the newspaper Telecinco.
On the other hand, the director of the school, Juan José Ramírez, specified that "it is a curious adaptation of football, since it is played on foot and can be practiced by men and women of any level".
Walking Football was born in England more than a decade ago and is becoming a very popular sport. Ramírez explained that, in addition to the sport itself, there will be a program of complementary activities "for the enjoyment of the elderly". The main objective is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, creating a space where the elderly can socialize and have fun playing sports.
