Moments after Manchester City's triumph over Tottenham (0-2) on Tuesday, which allowed them to return to the leadership of the Premier League before the last matchday of the championship, Pep Guardiola refused to celebrate the unprecedented four-time championship and recalled that Arsenal is still in the running for the most coveted trophy in English football.
"We knew it was going to be difficult, but we were there in the bad moments and our goalkeepers did their job. Our players were playing with the consequences of the result and, when you do that, you lose the Premier League. They are human beings and I understand the pressure, not even Arsenal played well against Manchester United (0-1) because they knew that if they lost, they would not win the Premier League", he began by saying, in statements quoted in BBC Sport.
"My players are not celebrating anything. Of course we are happy and relieved because we wanted to reach the last game in the lead. Anything can happen and to win [the Wimbledon tournament], tennis players say that the last serve in tennis is the most difficult of all. We have to prepare well, stay focused and win again", he added.
It should be noted that Manchester City remains in the lead of the English championship with 88 points, two more than Arsenal, with the cityzens - the Portuguese Rúben Dias, Matheus Nunes and Bernardo Silva - receiving West Ham next Sunday, while the gunners face Everton.
