FIFA advances with Women's Club World Cup in 2026
The first women's Club World Cup "should bring together 16 teams" and take place between January and February 2026, at a location yet to be defined, FIFA decided today, during the 74th Congress of the organization, in Bangkok.

This new women's competition should take place every four years, similar to the men's Club World Cup, with 32 teams, the first edition in the new format will feature FC Porto and Benfica, between June 15 and July 13, 2025, in the United States.
"More details will be given in due course", indicated the maximum body of world football in relation to the women's competition, whose realization had already been considered in December, within the scope of the investment strategy in club football.
At the Congress, an additional women's club competition was also proposed, based on the requests of the Confederations, in years when there is no Club World Cup, from 2027 onwards and in order to facilitate global development.
A situation antagonistic to the problems on the men's side, with an overloaded international calendar that this week once again led the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FifPro) and the World Leagues Association to request a 'review' of the 2025 World Cup calendar, under penalty of proceeding legally.
