About 24 hours after the revelations of Nuno Santos and Pedro Gonçalves on Rádio Renascença, it was Paulinho's turn to give an account of the behind-the-scenes of Sporting's title party, this Wednesday, in an interview given to Rádio Comercial, in which he took the opportunity to reveal the drunkest players in the Marquês de Pombal celebrations and to guarantee that... he will remain in Alvalade next season.

"Drunk? It was madness. We have a few, from Adán to Esgaio. Somersby ran out and I ended up stopping drinking. I was standing on the bus, in a corner, but I was on point. It was beautiful. I had a great time", he began by saying, before addressing the impact of the famous chant 'If Paulinho shows his teeth, they even fall out'.

"The truth is that few players have a song for them, I have a teammate, and I'm not going to say his name, who only found out at Marquês that this song was for me. When I went up the ramp to enter the stage, the music starts playing and you can feel a difference in the atmosphere. It was madness. There are people who are not Sporting fans who sing that", he added.

As soon as he was asked about staying at Sporting next season, given the interest of clubs from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Paulinho was peremptory "Yes, yes, I'm staying" and even admitted to imagining himself as a coach by saying, with a laugh, that he already has "level 1, but still not level 2 so as not to scare other coaches".

Finally, the 31-year-old forward did not tire of praising Rúben Amorim for the work he has done in Alvalade since 2020 and revealed a secret in the preparation for the 20th national championship title, already discussed at the end of last season with a heavy fourth place in the I League.

"It all started last season, because when we realised that we were no longer fighting for the championship, the coach's speech was 'it can't be'. On the last matchday, at the end of the game, he gathered the team and said: 'we start winning the championship today' and so it was", he added.
