Desporto Premier League

Manchester United put an end to a three-match winless run on Wednesday night, beating Newcastle 3-2 in a rearranged Premier League match from matchweek 34.

Amad Diallo, the 21-year-old forward, was in inspired form, setting up fellow youngster Kobbie Mainoo for the opening goal at Old Trafford. However, the Magpies hit back early in the second half through Anthony Gordon.

The hosts refused to throw in the towel, though, and sealed the win through Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund (the latter assisted by Portugal international Bruno Fernandes, who started the match alongside Diogo Dalot) in the 57th and 84th minutes, despite a late consolation from Lewis Hall.

The win moves Manchester United up to 57 points, level with Newcastle in seventh place in the Premier League with just one match remaining.

The Red Devils remain in the hunt for a European spot, which they could also secure by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Teams

Manchester United: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Evans, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot; McTominay, Mainoo, Amrabat; Bruno Fernandes, Amad and Garnacho.

Newcastle: Dúbravka; Trippier; Krafth, Dan Burn, Hall; Bruno Guimarães, Longstaff, Anderson; Murphy, Gordon and Isak.

Preview

Old Trafford will host a rearranged Premier League match from matchweek 34 on Wednesday night, with a potential European place at stake as Manchester United host Newcastle.

The team of Portugal international Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot are currently eighth in the standings with 54 points, and are in real danger of missing out on continental football for the first time in a decade.

The Magpies, meanwhile, are one place and three points better off, level on points with Chelsea, who travel to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton at the same time.

Manchester United v Newcastle will be refereed by Robert Jones and you can follow the action live from 8pm (UK time) on Desporto ao Minuto.
