In the Thai capital, on the sidelines of the 74th FIFA Congress, the federation leader and the Iberian-Moroccan bid committee have participated in meetings with various federations and confederations, because, despite this being a unique bid, it still has to be validated in a congress at the end of the year.

According to the bid's press office, Gomes and Laranjo met today with the president of the Oceania Football Confederation, Lambert Matlock, and with its secretary-general, Franck Castillo, during the morning, followed, during the afternoon, by a meeting with the president of the Australian federation, Anter Isaac, and its executive director, James Johnson, who recently, together with New Zealand, organized the 2023 Women's World Cup.

On Thursday, the agenda of the Portuguese officials is filled with the presidents of the confederations that support the bid, such as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and UEFA, and with the presidents of the federations of the United States, Mexico and Canada, the countries that will organize the 2026 World Cup.

"Despite this being a unique bid, the bureaucratic process is exactly the same as that of previous bids and we will be evaluated by the votes we get in the December Congress, so it is very important to share with as many of the officials that make up this electoral universe what we are working on, how we intend to organize the World Cup and the legacy we intend to leave. That is what we will do in the different forums until the end of the year", said Fernando Gomes.

Portugal, Spain and Morocco will organize the 2030 World Cup, FIFA announced in October last year.

Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will also host three matches of the 2030 World Cup, as a way of celebrating the centenary of the competition, whose first edition took place in Uruguay, in 1930.
