Chelsea took a potentially decisive step towards securing European football with a fourth straight win as they came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 on Wednesday night.
The Seagulls took the lead after 34 minutes when Marc Cucurella's cross was headed home by Cole Palmer, but the Blues levelled early in the second half through Christopher Nkunku.
Reece James was then sent off for Chelsea in the 88th minute after coming on as a substitute for Reece James in the 69th minute. Danny Welbeck scored a late consolation for the hosts.
The win moves Chelsea up to 60 points, meaning they will go into the final day of the Premier League season in sixth place, the final position that secures European qualification.
Brighton remain 10th with 48 points, level with Bournemouth, who lost 2-1 at home to Brentford last weekend.
