The case against Portuguese footballer William Carvalho, from Betis, for alleged sexual assault, has been dismissed, according to a ruling from the Seville Court of Investigation to which EFE has had access today.

According to the Spanish court ruling, "neither the events prior, nor the contemporary, nor the subsequent" to those reported, which occurred in August 2023, "support the version that a non-consensual relationship occurred".

"The two had known each other for a few months before they had a relationship and, according to the complainant herself, they kept in touch through messages, phone calls or video calls" until the moment when "they agreed to spend a few days together in Seville".

The investigation into the 32-year-old Betis midfielder William Carvalho for a crime of sexual assault arose following a complaint filed by a woman with whom the player had a relationship in August 2023.
