Tozé Marreco addressed the issue when asked about his team's motivation for this last game, ensuring that the work group is focused on ending the competition with a win, against an opponent who is still fighting to avoid the relegation play-off spot. "The motivation is to do what we like the most and to represent the emblem that we wear on our chest. There are still three points at stake and a championship to finish. We must respect the integrity of the competition and all our colleagues. We will fight for a good result", assured the coach from Barcelos. The coach, who has not yet lost since taking over the team's command four games ago [two wins and two draws], anticipated a "very difficult" game against an opponent he praised. "I expect a very difficult game, but we know what we have to do. Estrela has a well-organised team that knows what it's doing. I know and admire Sérgio Vieira's work, but the opponent's situation is none of our concern. I want to win this game", he stressed. With the permanence in the main echelon of national football already guaranteed, the coach, who has a contract with the 'roosters' until 2025, shared that he is already preparing for next season. "As soon as the permanence was secured [last week], I started thinking about next season, writing down what I wanted and taking my notes. The pre-season planning has already been defined", he assured. Regarding the squad elements that will move on to 2024/25, and the sectors that need to be reinforced, the coach assured that this work is also being done. "Regarding the squad issue, we will wait. There is a group of players that I consider very competent and interesting, but the market is very difficult. It is something that we will work on with the club's management", he promised. What is certain is the attention that the coach will give to Gil Vicente's training sector, in a premise that he considered essential for the club's sustainability. "My club vision is transversal. It is necessary to plan from the bottom up, with a joint idea of what we want to do. I believe a lot in Gil Vicente's potential in training. We have to develop our young people and make them profitable", he assured. Gil Vicente, 11th place with 36 points, plays this Saturday at Estrela da Amadora's ground, 15th with 30, in a match scheduled for 3:30 pm, refereed by João Pinheiro, from the Braga Football Association.
