Benfica B 'crushes' FC Porto B in the farewell to 2023/24
Pedro Santos and Henrique Pereira scored twice in the thrashing of the eternal rivals.

Benfica B ended the 2023/24 season on a high note on Friday evening, hosting and beating FC Porto B by a resounding 5-2 in a match counting for the 34th and final round of the II Liga.
The team coached by Nélson Veríssimo had a stellar first half, going into the break with a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Cauê dos Santos, Pedro Santos, and Henrique Pereira... in the space of just eight minutes, leaving their eternal rivals unable to react.
In the second half, Pedro Santos scored again, this time assisted by Hugo Félix. Henrique Pereira was not to be outdone and also scored a brace, while the Dragons' consolation goal came from Romain Correia and Gustavo Marques (the latter an own goal).
With this win, Benfica B now has 45 points, which provisionally moves them up to eighth place in the II Liga. FC Porto B remains behind with the same 44 points as Mafra, who still have to visit Nacional.

The Seixal complex will host one of the most anticipated matches of the 34th and final round of the 2023/24 II Liga season on Friday evening, pitting eternal rivals Benfica B and FC Porto B against each other.
Despite the great interest this match will generate among fans, it will ultimately have little impact on the league table, as neither team can move up to the top flight... and both are safe from relegation.
The blue and whites go into the Clássico in ninth place with 44 points, the same as Mafra, who will end the round with a visit to Nacional. The reds, meanwhile, are in 12th place with 42 points, the same as Académico de Viseu, who will host Marítimo.
Benfica B-FC Porto B will be refereed by Ricardo Baixinho, a referee from the Lisbon Football Association, and you can follow it live from 6 pm (mainland Portugal time) on Desporto ao Minuto.
