Sporting de Braga, FC Porto and Vitória de Guimarães are included in a list of 13 clubs that have been subjected to disciplinary measures for having overdue debts, according to the statement released today, reporting on the assessment of non-debt defined in the UEFA club licensing and financial sustainability regulations by the organisation's financial control body (CFCB).

A source from the SAD bracarense reported that the fine of 40,000 euros was paid immediately, so the situation is now regularised.

FC Porto and Vitória de Guimarães, on the other hand, risk being excluded from European football competitions for failing to comply with UEFA's financial 'fair play'.

The 'dragons' were fined 1.5 million euros and excluded from European competitions for one season, with a suspended sentence for two years, as were the vimaranenses, who are on probation for one season and fined 200,000 euros.

FC Porto, Vitória de Guimarães and Sporting de Braga were among the 11 clubs that did not appeal the disciplinary decisions, taking into account the three assessment moments, in July and October 2023 and in January 2024, making it evident, according to UEFA, that in March they would not meet the requirements to participate in European club competitions.

According to UEFA, the 11 clubs that "did not appeal the CFCB decision were fined for having overdue accounts payable and/or incorrect declaration of accounts payable information".

FC Porto was the club most heavily penalised, with a fine of one and a half million euros, Vitória de Guimarães 200,000 euros and Sporting de Braga 40,000 euros, according to today's UEFA statement, which details that these amounts considered the amounts due in the 2023/24 season, as well as aggravating and mitigating factors.

Once again according to UEFA, due to recidivism, for debts overdue for more than 90 days during the season and/or for failure to comply with the club licensing criteria, FC Porto and Vitória de Guimarães were punished with suspension from European competitions, with a suspended sentence, for one season, in the next edition for which they qualify (i.e. 2025/26, 2026/27 and 2027/28).

"For FC Porto, the exclusion is suspended for a probationary period of two seasons and will only be applied if the club does not meet the solvency requirements in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons", reads the statement, while for the vitorianos "the exclusion is suspended for a probationary period of one season and will only be applied if the club does not meet the solvency requirements in the 2024/25 season".

CSKA Sofia (Bul), Dinamo Tbilisi (Geo), Partizan Belgrade (Ser), Galatasaray (Tur), Betis (Esp), Ordabasy Shymkent (Caz), Riga FC (Let) and FK Auda (Let) were the clubs that accepted the fines imposed, while Adana Demirspor (Tur) and FC Shakhtyor (Biel) were the clubs that appealed, with the appeal body confirming the punishments of exclusion from European competitions for one year, as well as a fine of approximately one million euros for the Belarusian club.
