FC Porto issued an official statement on Saturday morning in which it reacted to the sanction imposed by UEFA, in the amount of 1.5 million euros, which could lead to the Portistas being left out of European competitions.

The new management of FC Porto, which is now chaired by André Villas-Boas, points the finger at the previous management of Pinto da Costa's team, speaking of "imprudent and inoperative management acts."

In the same statement, the new governing bodies of FC Porto guarantee that they will do everything "so that all the rules and regulations to which the club is subject, including those relating to UEFA's financial fair play, are always strictly complied with."

The team led by André Villas-Boas also reveals that it will proceed with an investigation to understand the reasons behind this sanction and to determine "the due responsibilities of the people involved, both in the repeated breaches and in the omission of the facts."

The UEFA Financial Control Committee confirmed yesterday through a statement that FC Porto is subject to a fine of 1.5 million euros and a one-year suspended sentence from UEFA European Competitions during the 2025/26, 2026/27 and 2027 seasons. /28. It was also confirmed yesterday that this sanction had already been formally notified to the Club on April 19, 2024.

The Board of Directors of Futebol Clube do Porto hereby clarifies to the Members that the sanction now confirmed arises from imprudent and inoperative management acts that are the sole responsibility of the members of the Club's previous Board of Directors and its Sporting Society and that resulted in the breach of UEFA financial fair play rules, namely breaches in the controls of payments relating to employees, tax authority/social security and football clubs. It should also be noted that the sanction applied was particularly severe due to the recurrence of the breach of these rules, as well as the communication of incorrect and incomplete information to UEFA within the scope of the procedure.

In view of the above, we must inform the members that, despite the existing difficulties, the new elected Board will do everything so that all the rules and regulations to which the club is subject, including those relating to UEFA's financial fair play, are always strictly complied with.

The Board will investigate, internally and externally, the reasons why the club incurred this sanction and will determine the due responsibilities of the people involved, both in the repeated breaches and in the omission of the facts.
