Belenenses wins ninth national rugby championship title
Belenenses won their ninth national rugby championship title today, beating Agronomia 19-18 at Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, with a penalty converted in the last play of the championship final.

João Freudenthal, at 90+7 minutes, secured the title for the 'blues', after having hit between the posts on three more occasions (35, 46, 61) and having converted the only try of the match, 'signed' by André Cunha (40+8).
With this triumph, Belenenses has nine titles (1959, 1963, 1973, 1975, 2003, 2008, 2018, 2022 and 2024) and equals Benfica in third place in the history of the Division of Honor, behind CDUL (20) and Direito (12), who held the scepter and was eliminated by the 'blues' in the semi-finals.
