First, it was the party at Marquês de Pombal, on May 5th. A week later, the celebrations continued in Amoreira, in the first game as national champions. This time, the celebrations happened upon returning to Alvalade, this Saturday, with the closing of the I Liga curtain being crowned with a triumph in front of Desportivo de Chaves (3-0), now imposing the question: Will there be more celebration at Jamor?

The apocalyptic atmosphere in the surroundings of the stadium preceded the debut of the new kit for the next season on the field, where we would also witness the farewells of Luís Neto and Antonio Adán. Before that, the lions did their part in reaching 90 points and went to the break winning by two goals.

After a penalty in favor of Sporting annulled with the use of the video referee, Viktor Gyokeres took care of opening the scoring precisely in the collection of a penalty (this time alerted by the VAR), in a moment in which Alvalade shouted Neto's name to take responsibility, at minute 23.

Shortly after, the Swedish international did as he pleased in the penalty area and increased the advantage, and the brace even became a hat-trick for brief instants, on the verge of the break (45+1'), in a move that would end up being invalidated due to a foul at the beginning of the play. Curiously, from that foul was born the expulsion of Junior Pius, at 45+4', following an elbow to Morten Hjulmand, making the reaction of the transmontanos - already 'condemned' to the II Liga - inviable in the second half.

The return from the locker rooms only brought one more goal in the match, scored by Paulinho, in a beautiful shot at minute 55, which made Alvalade sing "If Paulinho shows his teeth, they will fall". Until the final whistle, one of the high points of the afternoon was the ovation for Luís Neto when he was substituted, not forgetting the debut of Francisco Silva, who replaced his colleague Diogo Pinto in the lions' goal - these being the two most recent names to increase the list of national champions.

The Sporting fans did not budge and the long-awaited moment of raising the trophy of 20th national champion would arrive at night. The I Liga ended for the lions, but not the season, given that on May 26th, the Estádio Nacional do Jamor will host the Clássico between FC Porto and Sporting, in the dispute of the Taça de Portugal, with the double on the horizon for Rúben Amorim's protégés.

Let's go to the notes of the match.

Figure

Who else could it be? Viktor Gyokeres once again showed why he is considered one of the best players to play in the I Liga (in what could have been his farewell to Alvalade), signing a new gala performance. The Swedish international was surgical in the lions' attack and, after having opened the scoring in a penalty (23'), scored a brace with a beautiful goal at minute 37. Gyokeres even reached a hat-trick before the break (45+1'), but saw his move invalidated with the use of the VAR.

Surprise

Gonçalo Pinto did what he could to prevent Sporting's 'carousel' of goals from being much greater. Moreno Teixeira decided to promote the debut of the 24-year-old goalkeeper, after having seen the dream of staying up be made inviable, and it can even be said that the debutant was up to the task... and in an atmosphere to which he was not used to. The three beautiful saves he made throughout the match allowed the difference in the score from not growing.

Disappointment

Junior Pius was already not having a particularly brilliant performance in Alvalade, but the scenario worsened with the elbow to Morten Hjulmand, while the players were organizing themselves in the penalty area in a free kick in favor of the flavienses (reason why Gyokeres' hat-trick was annulled). The straight red shown to the Nigerian defender, in a move that was even offensive, made a reaction from his team inviable in the second half, in such a way that the disadvantage even increased to three goals.

Coaches

Rúben Amorim had already announced the eleven that would be launched for the last round of the championship and the truth is... he did no>
