Sporting defeats Benfica and is one step away from being crowned national champion

Sporting took, early on Saturday afternoon, a potentially decisive step in the race for the national championship title, which has eluded them since 2018, thanks to the triumph secured at the Pavilhão da Luz, against Benfica, by 32-41.
The Lions signed an 'overwhelming' first half, exposing the defensive difficulties of the reds, so much so that they reached the interval winning by eight goals difference, an advantage that they managed to 'fatten' even more, in the course of the second 30 minutes.
A result that could have even been worth the trophy to the green and white team, mathematically... if it weren't for the fact that, at exactly the same time, their eternal rival received and beat ABC, by 34-25, making the party impossible.
After the math, Sporting goes into the last round in isolated leadership, with 46 points, two more than the second-placed team, FC Porto, with whom they have a meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm (Continental Portugal time) next Saturday, at the Pavilhão João Rocha.
