Without Álvaro Pacheco, Vitória SC turns around in Arouca and makes history

Vitória SC entered the month of May with the goal of securing the best points tally in its history in the I League and, after two defeats against Rio Ave (2-0) and Sporting de Braga (3-2) that compromised the fight for third and fourth places, ended up closing the championship with a turnaround in Arouca (1-3), this Saturday, reaching 63 points in fifth place, in a position to qualify for the Europa Conference League preliminary rounds.
After a first half in which the best opportunities belonged to the Arouquenses, with many misses in between, Daniel Sousa saw his team jump to the front of the scoreboard with a penalty converted by Cristo, at 40 minutes, after a foul committed by Borevkovic.
In the second half, without any changes on the part of Rui Cunha - he replaced Álvaro Pacheco in the last round after he requested his resignation to head to Brazil -, Vitória SC signed an epic turnaround, in just... three minutes.
Nélson Oliveira took advantage of a pass from André André to reach the tie at 50 minutes, followed by Thiago's own goal when he deflected a shot from Jota Silva with tremendous misfortune, at 53 minutes. After the hour mark, it was Manu Silva's turn to reach the final 1-3, after a pass from Nélson Olivera, at 62 minutes.
Daniel Sousa thus says goodbye to Arouca, with 46 points in seventh position, before heading to Sporting de Braga, while Vitória SC came in fifth, with 63.
