Moreirense beats Estoril 'with a bomb' and closes a historic season
Cónegos finish 2023/24 with 55 points, a record they had never achieved before.

Moreirense ended, late on Saturday afternoon, what was the best season in its entire history in terms of points, in the top tier of Portuguese football, thanks to the triumph achieved in the reception to Estoril, by 2-1.
The canons broke the deadlock, at the Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, right in the fifth minute, through Vinicius Mingotti, but the response came at the start of the second half, through João Carlos. It was then that, at 66 minutes, Gonçalo Franco sealed the final result, with a 'bomb'.
With the accounts done, with this triumph, Moreirense now has 55 points (three more than its previous maximum in the I League), which means that it ends the 2023/24 season in sixth position, 'at the gates' of European qualification.
Estoril, on the other hand, remains in 13th place, with 33 points, as many as Estrela da Amadora, who, hours before, received and beat Gil Vicente, by 1-0, with a goal from Kikas, to guarantee, mathematically, maintenance.
