Sporting were crowned champions 'on the couch' on May 5th, after Benfica lost in Famalicão, by 2-0.

As they had received Portimonense the day before (victory, by 3-0) in the 32nd round, and in the following round played in Estoril (triumph by 1-0), the trophy ended up being delivered today, after the triumph against Desportivo de Chaves (3-0), with Gyökeres, on two occasions, and Paulinho scoring the goals.

The party, however, started even before the game began. The Flaviense team made the guard of honor for the Sporting players to enter the lawn of the José Alvalade Stadium and, in the meantime, the audience sang in unison the 'Marcha do Sporting', immortalized by Maria José Valério.

During the game, the 48,628 spectators, who shouted several times "the champion is back", surrendered to Neto, who today represented Sporting for the last time, when he was replaced, at 59 minutes, by St. Juste.

As expected, the celebrations reached their peak after the final whistle of the Porto referee Manuel Oliveira.

Before receiving the trophy, the national champions stayed on the lawn, threw autographed green balls into the stands by the entire squad, while the stage was being set up.

While waiting for the consecration, the fans were able to watch a farewell video from goalkeeper Antonio Adán, who, like Neto (also entitled to a video), will not remain at Sporting next season and who received trophies of thanks from the president Frederico Varandas.

The trophy entered the lawn by the hands of the ambassador of the League of clubs and former player and ex-goalkeeper of Sporting Nélson Pereira.

As usual in these circumstances, the president of the League of clubs, Pedro Proença, handed out the medals to the players and elements of the Sporting 'staff', with coach Rúben Amorim and captain Coates being warmly cheered by the audience.

After the champions were duly profiled, Pedro Proença handed the cup to Coates and the captain raised the trophy high, along with the rest of his teammates.

The more than 48 thousand spectators did not budge, they remained in celebration even after the players left the lawn.
