Mainz confirms Benfica's first signing for the new season
Sporting director of the German team confirmed the departure of Leandro Barreiro to the incarnates.

There are no doubts anymore. Mainz's sporting director, Christian Heidel, confirmed on Saturday afternoon that Leandro Barreiro will join Benfica in the summer.
The Luxembourg international had already announced that he would leave Mainz as a free agent, and now it was the German club's manager's turn to confirm the departure of the 24-year-old midfielder.
"The player informed the club about all the steps with Benfica", revealed Christian Heidel, Mainz's sporting director, quoted by the magazine Kicker, after the German club's farewell to the current season.
Now, Leandro Barreiro only needs to sign a contract with Benfica. Apparently, the midfielder will sign for five seasons and is the first signing of the reds for the new season.
