Paris'2024. Jieni Shao and Fu Yu secure a place in the individual events
Portuguese Jieni Shao and Fu Yu secured today the qualification for the individual table tennis competitions of the Paris2024 Olympic Games, by reaching the final of the qualifying tournament, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Jieni Shao and Fu Yu will be in the Olympic Games for the third time, after having been in Rio2016 and Tokyo2020, reinforcing the Portuguese team in the sport, joining the male representatives, who secured a place in the team competition, by reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup, and two in the individual.
Fu Yu, 45, secured the place by beating Ukrainian Margarita Pesotska, 4-3 (13-15, 11-7, 11-8, 13-11, 9-11, 9-11 and 12-10), while Jieni Shao, 30, also surpassed in the semi-finals, Hungarian Georgina Pota, by 4-1 (11-13, 11-5, 11-7, 11-4 and 11-5).
