Silas announces departure from Mafra: "We want a little more stability..."

A change of cycle is in sight in Mafra. Jorge Silas announced, on Sunday afternoon, that he will leave the club from the western zone. The coach leaves after a season with the Mafra team.
"We [the coaching staff] understand that we need another type of project. We did a job here that we are very proud of, with several young players. We are the third youngest team in the II League, but we will lose many people next season and building a new team every year is always difficult for us. We want a little more stability and, therefore, we are looking for a club that allows us to fight for other goals", said Silas, after the defeat at Nacional's home (2-0).
"I would never speak to anyone before making my decision known to CD Mafra. We were very well treated, we really like being here. I would therefore like to thank President José Cristo and Quim Zé [director of SAD] for their support throughout the season. As a matter of loyalty, we did not accept to speak to any team about our decision, so it is only from now on that we will start talking to potential new teams", stressed the 47-year-old coach.
"This coaching staff is looking for an ambitious project. If we could keep most of the players for next season, it would be something very attractive to us, but the chances of maintaining a strong base for the year are very short, so we decided it was time to look for another project", he concluded.
