Rui Duarte leaves Sp. Braga with the conviction that he will return one day
Sporting de Braga today made official the departure of Rui Duarte as head coach of the main football team, which will be led next season by Daniel Sousa, former coach of Arouca.

"It was two wonderful years. I can't hide that [coaching the main team] was our ambition when I arrived at the club, whoever doesn't think like that, doesn't think big and it was incredible", he said in statements to the club's media.
Rui Duarte, 45, coached the team in the last seven rounds of the I League, after Artur Jorge left for the Brazilian Botafogo, after 'moving up' from the under-23s.
Considering having left "some work done" within the club and that this "work, dedication and commitment" were recognized, Rui Duarte stressed that Sporting de Braga ended the season "playing like a real team, like a real family".
"This was demonstrated in this last game [of the championship, in the 1-0 defeat against FC Porto, in Braga] or against our rival in Guimarães [2-1 victory, in the previous round]", he said.
The coach assumed the "nostalgia of the farewell" and stressed the "feeling of gratitude for the opportunity".
"I leave richer as a person and also as a professional. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Sporting de Braga for what you did for me, for my coaching staff and for my family. I leave with a full heart and with the conviction that, one day, I will return to defend these colours", he said.
Sporting de Braga finished in fourth place, with 68 points, and, next season, will be coached by Daniel Sousa, coach of Arouca in the season that has just ended.
