"The president said it and we're all happy that he's staying here. We're very happy and it's good for Sporting that he's staying", highlighted Uruguayan centre-back Coates to journalists, at the end of the protocol ceremony presided over by mayor Carlos Moedas.

Sporting president Frederico Varandas confirmed during his speech that the coach, who won two national titles in four years, will continue at the club next season, considering Amorim "one of the best coaches in the world".

"I think the 'mister' is a guarantor of stability, competence and knowledge at the club. He's one of our assets in the Sporting universe and we know that he could be the detail that makes the difference between winning and not winning", stated Luís Neto.

Coates, Luís Neto and Adán were the spokespeople for the squad and pointed to winning the Portuguese Cup next Sunday, adding another trophy to the Lisbon club's successful period, which intends to continue the victorious campaign in the coming seasons.

"I don't know if it's a new era. Throughout its history, Sporting has won many things. Unfortunately, in recent times it hadn't won as much, but in four years we've managed to be champions twice and that's positive for all of us. We know that next year will be very difficult, but we're going to try again", said the South American centre-back.

Spanish goalkeeper Adán asked for a strong presence of Sporting fans at the Estádio Nacional, in Oeiras, in the Portuguese Cup final against FC Porto, with the player expressing that the reception at the City Hall "is another moment to remember".

"It's another moment to remember and it's one of the last I have left here at Sporting. I hope to be back here next week with all the Sporting fans. The secret is this union between fans and team. Throughout the season, it was important and the illusion among the fans grew, resulting in this championship", highlighted the player.

Today, the Praça do Munícipio was filled with 'leonine' fans during the reception and Luís Neto believes that it's "yet another proof of Sporting spirit", with the group's belief, after a less successful season, having been decisive in winning the 20th title.

"It was the belief since a tough season last year, with a fourth place. We all came together and realised what we could improve, always focused on our goal and on the right path. We stayed the course despite the not-so-positive season and we achieved what we all wanted. On Sunday, we're going to fight for a very important trophy for the club and we're going all out", assumed the centre-back, who also played his last season at the club.

Coates also guaranteed that Sporting will do everything "to beat" FC Porto in the last match of the season, with everyone having the "same obligation" as before, and, with the departures of Neto and Adán, he sees Nuno Santos as a possible captain for the Lisbon team.

"We're always joking with Nuno and I think it's positive for the group to see the good atmosphere there is. I see the capacity and quality for him to be one of the captains", he attested.
