Diogo Dalot gave an extensive interview to the prestigious English magazine Four Four Two this Tuesday, in which he spoke about his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he was a teammate at Manchester United.

"I had never said this before, but Cristiano Ronaldo is the most influential person I have ever had in football. On and off the pitch. I consider him a friend, but it seems surreal to me because he was my idol, my reference, for years. I really got to know him at Euro'2020 and any moment I spend with him makes me feel richer in terms of knowledge. I can benefit from his vast experience, talent and wisdom", stressed Diogo Dalot.

In the same conversation, the former FC Porto player praised his coach at Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag.

"Our connection was immediate. I have had many coaches during my short career, with some I get along well right away, with others we have to show that we deserve to play. Erik and I see football the same way. I can adapt to what he wants and take on different roles in different positions, which helps him when players are not available. He has a player who knows what he wants and I have a coach who trusts and believes in me. I am still improving", continued the Portuguese international.

"I can play right-back or left-back and I am much more confident doing so. Playing regularly, like this season, is the best reward. I have already played around 150 games for Manchester United and I feel better than ever. I want to improve in all areas. On the pitch, doing things at the right time, and off the pitch, in the way my body recovers. The most important thing is to play. You learn from what you do well and what you don't do well. That's how you grow as a footballer", he concluded.
