Sub-17: Portugal charges 'late interest' to Spain at the start of the Euro
The Portuguese team started winning in the Euro sub-17.

At a time when there is so much talk about 'historical reparations' in Portugal, the Portuguese Under-17 team charged 'Mora' interest on sixty years of Philippine domination, with a victory over the Spanish team at the start of the Under-17 Euro, this Tuesday.
In Cyprus, João Santos' team started winning this competition where they have already been champions twice (2003 and 2016). They won 2-1, with goals from Rodrigo Mora and Cardoso Varela. Yañez scored for Spain.
The game even started with a Spanish goal, by Yañez, at the 20th minute. The player surprised goalkeeper Diogo Ferreira with a free kick, shooting into the goal.
The truth is that Portugal reacted immediately with a goal by Cardoso Varela, a player from FC Porto who is only 15 years old. They gave space to the winger and he took advantage to shoot.
At 33', it was the turn of another Porto player to score. Rodrigo Mora, the youngest player to compete in professional championships in Portugal, made it 1-2. It was a great counterattack by the men led by João Santos. Gabriel Silva, a forward from Sporting, led the ball, resisted the temptation to shoot and assisted Mora for the goal. A great shot, which still hit the bar.
A good omen for the European Championship? The last time Portugal won this competition, it was against Spain, in 2016, in the final. These three points make it easier for Portugal to qualify for the semi-finals, but first they will have to play against England, on Friday, and France, on May 28.
