Hulk recalls the confusion in the Luz tunnel: "Rui Costa asked me..."

15 years later, Brazilian international Hulk recalled the confusion in the Luz tunnel, in Lisbon, during the Benfica-FC Porto match in 2009, counting towards the League. The episode earned him a 17-match suspension, as well as his colleague Sapunaru. And he revealed a question from Rui Costa, current president of Benfica.
"There was confusion, everyone involved, and who gets the blame? Me and Sapunaru. We got a three-month suspension, 20-something matches. It was a mess in the tunnel. I was already in the locker room and out of nowhere I hear: 'They attacked the masseur' and when they said his name I ran, but there was no aggression. Then Sapunaru started arguing with the head of security. When I saw it, everyone from FC Porto was arriving. There was a push and the confusion started. The confusion ended and Rui Costa [then sporting director] came. For me, he was a spectacular player, who I have always been a fan of. He arrived and, as the Portuguese say, asked me: 'F...-se, Hulk, what's going on?' I said 'It's a joke. They provoke us to cause confusion..", he said in statements to the Galocast podcast.
"At that time, the match delegate came and started writing down some things. Up until then, everything was normal. When I got on the bus, it started coming out in the media that me and Sapunaru were suspended indefinitely, that there would be punishment. That quickly? 50 people in the confusion and, funny enough, they gave two names", criticized Hulk, current player for Atlético Mineiro.
