"All Madeirans felt this rise of Nacional with great joy and happiness", praised Miguel Albuquerque, to then confide that he has been a Nacional supporter "since he was 14 years old".

The leader of the regional executive stated that Madeiran football needs to "attract investment companies", from countries such as "England or Saudi Arabia", to provide the clubs with "greater capitalization" and "compete for the first places" in the I League, thus raising the Region's name "to the highest levels".

As the head of the PSD list for Sunday's early elections, in Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque promised that, if he wins, he will start talks with the clubs "right after taking office", as he believes that it is necessary to "improve the law on support for sports".

The president of Nacional, Rui Alves, took the opportunity to highlight the importance of football in the "self-esteem of the people", and then said that, as a way to obtain good sports results, political and sports power "should go hand in hand".

As a way to defend more support for sports, Rui Alves recalled that "no other sector of economic activity has contributed as much to the Region as football", having even mentioned that, after the rise of Cristiano Ronaldo, "the youth of Madeira started to think that being born on the island is not a limit to anything".

Rui Alves also confirmed that Nacional's budget for the next season will be around seven million euros, but the nationalist leader demands more support from the Government, as he believes that the "current financing framework makes life impossible for the clubs".

Coach Tiago Margarido, one of the great architects of the rise in division, thanked the "partnership between players, technical team, management and the Regional Government of Madeira", expressing his wishes that this connection continues, so that Nacional can be "happy more often".

Nacional finished the Portuguese II Football League in second place, with 71 points, two less than the champion Santa Clara, which allowed the island emblem to return to the I League, three years after its last presence.
