After leaving the Egypt national team in February, following their elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations, the coach stated that it is "very likely" that he will return to coaching a club and that starting in July could be ideal, in order to start the next season.

"It has to be something that moves me, that feeling that I want to go to that place. This is if I have the possibility to choose something. Not having that possibility, I can say that it is not the context that I want now and I will stay home, resting from life, because, above all, I want to feel the pleasure of coaching. And that is not to say that it has to be to play for the title, I am open to various types of contexts", he revealed, in statements to Lusa, on the sidelines of the 18th International Football Congress, of the University of Maia.

After leaving Benfica, the club with which he was crowned national champion, the coach reiterated that the experiences in Saudi Arabia, Russia and Egypt made him better in the exercise of his functions and that he now feels able to adapt to various cultures and contexts.

"From the moment I left Portugal and worked on various continents, various competitive contexts, I am ready for any challenge. In reality, whoever goes to work in Saudi Arabia, in Russia, in Egypt, in Africa, is ready and available to work anywhere", he explained.

Rui Vitória also addressed the hypotheses of the Portuguese national team in the 2024 European Championship, on the day that Roberto Martínez revealed his 26 players elected for the competition, using his experience as a coach to illustrate that it is difficult to make predictions, given the many constraints.

"I think that Portugal has a fantastic team. Now, it depends on so much, and I, who have already been in these functions, also realise that there is so much that can constrain. Now that we have a group of players and a set of conditions that seem to me to be fundamental to do a beautiful job", he expressed.

The coach, who coached Al Nassr between 2018/2019 and 2020/2021, winning a championship, believes that Cristiano Ronaldo, Otávio and Rúben Neves will not arrive in worse rhythm and competitiveness for playing in Saudi football.    

"We are talking about great players. This issue will not have an impact. Whether in Arabia or in England, they are players who have come to the national team. It will not be for this reason that Portugal will win or lose, on the contrary. They are players who have had very good performances. Ronaldo scoring goals, Otávio has a very positive performance and, therefore, they will appear very well", he concluded.
