North American fund Oaktree is the new owner of Inter Milan
US fund Oaktree has taken ownership of Inter Milan after the Suning group defaulted on a €395 million debt, the new owner of the Italian champions announced on Wednesday.

In May 2021, the Chinese group took out a loan with the American fund, whose total value, including capital and interest (12% per year), would have to be paid within three years, which expired on Tuesday, allowing Oaktree to take control of the Milanese club.
The announcement came three days after Inter Milan received the 20th Italian championship title, and makes the 'Nerazzurri' the seventh Serie A club with American owners, together with rivals AC Milan, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Roma, Genoa and the newly promoted Parma.
"We are committed to achieving a long period of success and we believe that our ambition is paralleled by the passionate fans in Italy and around the world," said Oaktree Europe CEO Alejandro Cano.
On Saturday, Inter Milan president Steven Zhang accused the American fund of "compromising the club's financial stability", noting that Suning had done "everything in its power to find an amicable solution" with Oaktree.
