Championship club launch internal investigation into alleged racism

West Bromwich Albion have launched an investigation after a member of their football staff was accused of racism. It was Mail Sport who revealed that the Championship club have opened an internal probe into the claims after receiving a written complaint signed by more than one person.
Having received the correspondence, the Midlands club have a duty to investigate the matter, although there is no suggestion at this stage of any wrongdoing.
According to the same newspaper, one of the complainants is said to be so incensed by the alleged conduct of the employee concerned that they are considering severing ties with the club. West Brom have a strong track record of taking robust action against all forms of racial prejudice.
In October last year, they handed out an indefinite ban to a supporter who was found guilty of racially abusing Huddersfield Town forward Josh Koroma during a home game on March 11, 2022.
