The Copa América kicks off on June 20, and will mark the introduction of the pink card at the highest level. Information made public this Wednesday by CONMEBOL itself, in the form of a statement.

The organization explains that the card may be displayed by the technical teams themselves, with the aim of requesting a "substitution due to suspected head trauma and concussion". This card can only be used once per game, increasing the maximum number of changes to six.

"When the concussion substitution is used, the opposing team will automatically have the possibility of making a substitution", explains the organization that governs South American football, stressing that this cannot be used to make "normal substitutions".

"The player who suffers a concussion or is suspected of having suffered one, cannot be reinstated in the game or participate in the penalty shootout, and, whenever possible, will be accompanied to the locker room or to a medical center", he continues.

"Once the game is finished (with a maximum deadline of 24 hours after the end of the game), it will be mandatory for the doctor of the team that has detected this suspicion on the field of play and has or has not replaced the player, to submit the complete SCAT5 form", he concludes.
