Absence of Messi, Luis Suárez and Busquets prompts warning in MLS
Vancouver Whitecaps warn fans not to expect ex-Barcelona trio for Inter Miami visit

The Vancouver Whitecaps host Inter Miami on Friday in one of the most anticipated games of the MLS season, but it appears it will be without some of the league’s biggest names.
Whitecaps FC CEO Axel Schuster released a statement on the team’s official website Wednesday, warning fans that Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets are not expected to make the trip to BC Place.
“While we have not yet received official confirmation on the availability of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets for this weekend’s match, we understand that they will not be traveling to Vancouver,” the statement began.
“Unfortunately, we have no control over who our opponents select to play, and it was important to communicate this information to our fans as soon as possible. We always want our best players to compete against the best players from our opponents,” the statement continued.
“We understand that there will be many disappointed fans. We remain committed to making this a special experience for everyone in attendance. There will still be an incredible atmosphere and a celebration of soccer for our city,” the statement concluded.
