Bayern Munich are set to finally appoint a new coach, bringing an end to a saga that has been rumbling on since the end of February when they agreed to part company with Thomas Tuchel.
According to German broadcaster Sky Sport on Saturday, the Bavarians have struck a deal with recently relegated Championship club Burnley to bring in Vincent Kompany.
The Bundesliga runners-up will pay a fee in the region of €10-12 million for the Belgian, who only began his managerial career in 2019 when he took the reins at Anderlecht.
The German giants will breathe a sigh of relief after seeing a number of their top targets, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann and Austria’s Ralf Rangnick, reject the chance to take charge.
