'Old Firm', old outcome. The Scottish Cup final pitted Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers against each other at Hampden Park in a tight, feisty game with few clear-cut chances. The goal that made the difference arrived late on, with Idah getting the only goal of the game (1-0).

Brendan Rodgers' Celtic had already won the Scottish Premiership title earlier this month and were unbeaten in the derby this season, so confidence was high heading into the showpiece match at Scotland's national stadium.

However, Phillipe Clement's Rangers were keen to show a new 'face' in this type of match and claim the trophy, having already won the League Cup.

In the second half, there was even a goal disallowed for Rangers, scored by Scottish defender Abdallah Sima. The ball fell to the player at the back post following a corner and he bundled the ball in with his knee. However, VAR was alerted to a push in the back on Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart and agreed with the Catholic complaints, disallowing the goal.

With the game heading towards the end, Rodgers brought on Portuguese midfielder Paulo Bernardo, on loan at Celtic from Benfica. The Portuguese player was decisive in the only goal of the game, carrying the ball forward and hitting a powerful shot from outside the box that the Rangers goalkeeper was unable to hold. Idah, who had also recently come on, tapped the ball into the net.

Celtic fans celebrated at the end of one of the most fiercely contested matches in world football. English goalkeeper Joe Hart bowed out of his playing career with a trophy. This was the Catholics' 42nd Scottish Cup triumph.
