"If one day Pinto da Costa lets me share what was said..."
FC Porto coach responds to criticism for signing contract renewal before club elections.

On Sunday, Sérgio Conceição responded to those who criticized him for signing a contract renewal with FC Porto just days before the elections that would end up dictating a change in the direction of the blue and white club. In statements to Sport TV, right after winning the Portuguese Cup, after beating Sporting in the final, the Porto coach recalled the conversation he had with Pinto da Costa and gave a guarantee.
"The important thing is to see how I look at the fans. I always see passionate fans, with an incredible demand for titles. And I grew up in that demand and passion, with feelings very marked by what is respect, demand and gratitude. For many people it was not ethically correct for me to sign the renewal two days before the election", Sérgio Conceição began by saying, quoted by Record, continuing.
"If I were the coach of the three candidates, why not? I wanted to give that image to the people. It was to give strength to one of the candidates. But it was important for me. If one day the president lets me share much of what was said in that hour and a half of conversation that I had with him in that room, people will put the violin in the bag as they say because I believe that those who have these values of passion and gratitude understand that they could not leave the boat like this. I will never be an obstacle for FC Porto. I have never been attached to anything nor will I ever be. I come from a very humble family and with these values well established", concluded the Porto coach whose future remains surrounded by uncertainties.
