Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Republic, was not indifferent to the embrace between André Villas-Boas and Pinto da Costa that he witnessed in the presidential tribune of the Estádio Nacional do Jamor, on Sunday afternoon, after FC Porto won the Portuguese Cup final against Sporting (2-1).

"In addition to the aspects of people's lives and the lives of institutions, there are some that are happier and some that are less happy, but it is a very beautiful way to end. Seeing two presidents, one who is leaving and one who is entering, embraced, at a time when the one who is leaving is leaving with the victory in the Portuguese Cup", began by saying Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in statements to journalists, quoted by the newspaper O JOGO, before commenting on the end of Pinto da Costa's legacy at FC Porto.

"What will remain is the good side and the good side is the following… Pinto da Costa put FC Porto on a level where there were already two teams, Benfica and Sporting. He ensured that many FC Porto players in the national teams contributed to the prestige of Portugal and that is what remains. Portugal remains, which is not just Lisbon, which became more than Lisbon, in terms of football, with Pinto da Costa, and Portugal as a whole ends up winning with that", concluded the President of the Republic.
