NBA Legend Bill Walton Dies at 71
The former player was a two-time NBA champion.

The NBA announced this Monday, through a message left on social media, that former basketball player Bill Walton died at the age of 71. The legend of the Portland Trail Blazers was fighting a battle against cancer and ended up not resisting.
"As a dear member of the NBA family for 50 years, Bill's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. My condolences to Bill's wife, Lori; his sons, Adam, Nate, Luke and Chris; and his many friends and colleagues", can be read in a message signed by Adam Silver, NBA commissioner.
Bill Walton has an enviable resume in the world's top basketball league. The first title was in 1976/77, for the Portland Trail Blazers.
A new championship title followed in the 1985/86 season while playing for the Boston Celtics. Bill Walton was also the league's MVP in 1977/78. After the end of his career, the former basketball player was a commentator between 1990 and 2009. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.
