Artur Soares Dias: "I worked 28 years to get to a final like this"
Portuguese referee will whistle the final of the Europa Conference League.

Artur Soares Dias gave, this Monday, an interview to the official website of UEFA, in which he spoke about the fact that he will referee the final of the Europa Conference League between Olympiacos and Fiorentina, which will take place on Wednesday night.
The 44-year-old Porto referee does not hide his happiness for having been chosen, he who is the latest Portuguese referee to be in a European final, after Pedro Proença refereed the Champions League final in 2012.
"I worked for 28 years to reach an important final like this – being a referee is the same as being a player, a final is a final and we all want to be there. It was an unbelievable phone call to receive, because we work hard to reach that level. My reaction was a mixture of nervousness, responsibility, honour and a feeling of fulfilling a dream. Of course, after assimilating the news, you need to focus, as in any game, because you need to be fit and ready, psychologically calm and relaxed", stressed Artur Soares Dias.
"The first person I called when I heard the news was my mother, because it is a moment to remember my father and the advice he gave me. He was one of the reasons why I wanted to be a referee and I am sure that he is very proud of me, looking at this achievement", also pointed out the Porto referee.
"It is very important to emphasize that this achievement is not just mine. There is a great team behind me that works with me to reach this level. There are my assistant referees, of course, but also the fourth referees, the VARs, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Refereeing Committee. And also our physiotherapists, for example. All these people helped me to reach this final, so this success belongs to many people, not just me", he concluded.
