Roberto Jiménez gave an extensive interview to the Spanish newspaper Marca this Tuesday, in which, among other topics, he recalled his time at Benfica, where he only stayed during the 2010/11 season before returning to Spain.

Challenged to choose the three coaches who marked him the most throughout his career, the Spaniard, who said goodbye to football in 2012, pointed to Jorge Jesus.

"Well, the first of them, to follow a chronological line, Jorge Jesus, who I had at Benfica, was a very peculiar coach, with whom I learned a lot, with whom I suffered a lot, but I understood his way of wanting to get the most out of the players. Michel was like a football father to me. I can't say much more than that, which I think is already too much", said Roberto, who talked about the move to Portugal.

"It was probably the most decisive moment in my career, because, despite having just played for Zaragoza, I was still an Atlético de Madrid player, a youngster, and at that moment a top European club decided to pay a transfer for a 24-year-old goalkeeper, with little experience, and put him as a starter and in the headlines of newspapers in Portugal, with a very mediatic transfer and a team with the responsibility of winning the championship and having a good campaign in the Champions League", he stressed.

"Therefore, it was a decisive moment in all aspects of my life as a professional, which did not go as we would have liked the following year. It is true that Zaragoza opened the doors for me again and made an effort to recover and maintain my confidence, the confidence that could have been somewhat diminished in Portugal", he also said.

The former goalkeeper also highlighted Pablo Aimar and Javier Saviola.

"There are countless players that I take with me and I have many, many, many memories. But, for example, I shared many things with Raúl García at Atlético de Madrid, with Pablo Aimar at Benfica, with Saviola, at Benfica and at Olympiacos", he concluded.
