For Ho Iat Seng, the Macao Forum has achieved "encouraging results" since it was created in 2003, having strengthened and deepened cooperation in various sectors.
"At the current time when the world economy is facing profound changes, solidarity, mutually advantageous cooperation and a joint response to challenges are even more important", he said.
For his part, the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, highlighted on the same occasion that China wants to work with the member countries "to raise the level of Sino-Lusophone economic and trade cooperation to a new level".
On Saturday, Ho Iat Seng received the Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, in a meeting in which they discussed the promotion of bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, the attraction of more Portuguese companies and executives to establish themselves in Macao, among others, according to a statement.
The Macao Forum includes China and nine Portuguese-speaking countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste.
