The three diamonds were extracted from the Lulo mine in the first quarter and the auction, conducted by Sodiam, took place on April 19, according to a statement released today.

The 361-carat lot consisted of three Type Ila diamonds - a category assigned to only about two percent of the world's diamonds, with characteristics of great purity and transparency - of 42, 116 and 203 carats, which was sold at the highest price

The average price per carat reached US$29,000 (about 27,000 euros).

The Lulo alluvial mine is known for its rare and large diamonds and is operated by the Lucapa Diamond Company and Angolan partners Endiama (state-owned) and Rosas & Pétalas.
