Taxpayers have already submitted almost three million IRS declarations
Taxpayers have already submitted almost three million IRS returns, according to the information available on the Portal das Finanças, and about 75% correspond to people with income exclusively from dependent work and pensions.

According to the same information, 2,204,579 statements regarding income from employment and pensions and 709,787 from taxpayers with other types of income have been submitted up to the beginning of today, for a total of 2,914,366 statements.
Regarding settlements, in response to questions from Lusa about possible difficulties and delays in this procedure mentioned by some tax specialists, an official source from the Ministry of Finance indicated that no problem had been identified.
"Not only has no problem been identified in the validation processing of IRS model 3 statements, but, in fact, up to the end of April 22, there was an increase of more than 440 thousand validated statements compared to the same period last year", the same official source stressed.
Thus, he added, on that date 1,926,176 statements had been validated, compared to 1,484,318 in the same period of 2023.
The Ministry of Finance also indicates that "the statements are subject to complex validation procedures for the information contained therein, with these procedures being more complex when the number of attachments to the statement is greater".
"Upon submission of the model 3 statement, the taxpayer immediately has the respective proof of delivery available", notes the Ministry of Finance, adding that "the fact that a taxpayer is unable to access the proof of the model 3 statement only means that this statement has not yet been subject to the validation procedure".
The campaign for submitting the IRS statement regarding income from 2023 began on April 1 and runs until June 30.
