Taxpayers have already submitted more than three million IRS declarations

Taxpayers have already submitted more than three million IRS returns, according to the most recent information available on the Portal das Finanças.
As of 1:24 am this Thursday, 3,277,124 IRS returns had been submitted, of which 2,441,244 were related to income from dependent work and pensions and 835,880 from taxpayers with other types of income.
Delays in refunds? "No problem has been identified"
Regarding settlements, in response to questions from Lusa about possible difficulties and delays in this procedure mentioned by some tax experts, an official source from the Ministry of Finance indicated, last week, that no problem had been identified.
"Not only has no problem been identified in the validation processes of the IRS model 3 returns, but, in fact, up to the end of April 22, there was an increase of more than 440 thousand validated returns compared to the same period last year", stressed the same official source.
Thus, he added, on that date 1,926,176 declarations had been validated, against 1,484,318 in the same period of 2023.
The Ministry of Finance also indicates that "the declarations are subject to complex procedures to validate the information contained therein, these procedures being more complex when the number of annexes to the declaration is greater".
"When submitting the model 3 declaration, the taxpayer immediately has the respective proof of delivery available", notes the Ministry of Finance, adding that "the fact that a taxpayer is unable to access the proof of the model 3 declaration only means that this declaration has not yet been subject to the validation procedure".
The campaign to submit the IRS return for income in 2023 began on April 1 and runs until June 30.
