The pre-notice also covers all overtime work during the current month.
"After plenary sessions held on April 17, the workers mandated the union to issue a two-hour strike notice per shift for May 06, 08 and 10 and also a strike notice for all overtime work in May", announced the Union of Workers of the Manufacturing Industries, Energy and Environmental Activities of the North (SITE-Norte).
The workers will be concentrated, on the days in question, from 08:30 to 10:30 and from 17:00 to 19:00, in front of the company's facilities, in S. Mamede Infesta, Matosinhos.
According to the union structure, which is part of the CGTP, the workers demand the negotiation of the list of demands, the defense of jobs and the continuity of Efacec as a strategic company.
"This strike approved by the workers is a 'cry of alert' to affirm that they will not remain impassive and serene while the future of the company and their jobs may be at stake", pointed out the union, referring to the fact that the Mutares fund went ahead with a collective dismissal at Efacec Engenharia in April.
At the beginning of last month, Site Norte said it was not surprised by the intention of collective dismissal at Efacec, recalling that the Mutares fund "already has a similar track record" in other countries.
Speaking to Lusa, the union official, Miguel Ângelo, said that the union was aware of 12 workers covered by the process at Efacec Engenharia.
The State sold the entirety of Efacec (nationalized in 2020) to the German investment fund Mutares.
Within the scope of the sale, the State agreed to inject 160 million euros into the company and the Banco de Fomento is financing an additional 35 million euros, through the purchase of bonds (convertible into capital).
Efacec, which is headquartered in Matosinhos, has around 2,000 employees.
