Portuguese wine exports rise to 212 million until March
Portuguese wine exports grew by 0.01% in the first quarter to 212 million euros, the ViniPortugal association announced today.

"Total Portuguese wine exports in the first quarter of 2024 reached 212 million euros in value, 74 million liters in volume, with an average price of 2.85 euros per liter", ViniPortugal indicated in a statement.
Compared to the same period in 2023, there was a 0.01% growth in value and a 2.20% growth in average price. In volume, there was a 2.14% decrease.
France (24.8 million euros), the United States (23.7 million euros) and Brazil (18.3 million euros) are the main export markets.
Regarding the average price, between January and March, the Netherlands is the market with the best 'performance', showing an increase of 32.93%.
The association also highlighted the Chinese market, which represented, in the period under analysis, two million euros, a 12.13% increase compared to the first quarter of 2023, recovering after several years of losses.
"It is undeniable the role that Portuguese wine exports have played in increasing the visibility and reputation of Portugal as a benchmark producer. In recent years, Portuguese wine exports have shown constant resilience, driven by the quality of the products, the efficiency of marketing strategies and the expansion of distribution channels", said, quoted in the same note, the president of ViniPortugal, Frederico Falcão.
ViniPortugal is the Interprofessional Wine Association, which aims to promote the image of Portugal as a wine producer.
