Ricardo de Abreu, who spoke to Rádio Nacional de Angola on the sidelines of a workshop on aerodrome certification, which began today in Luanda, said that the meeting is intended to train Angolan specialists and executives in the sector under his supervision.

The minister highlighted the topic of Angolan airports and their certification, "to ensure greater connectivity and greater operational safety of the infrastructures", as relevant points for reflection at the meeting, stressing that the country's main network has 18 airports.

"We intend to certify at least five [airports] in the short and medium term, in addition to the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport and the New Luanda International Airport, to ensure that Angola has accessibility and connectivity at an international level at various points in the country", he stressed, without, however, giving any dates.

According to the Angolan news agency, Angop, priority will be given to the Catumbela airport, in the province of Benguela, in this certification.

The "Workshop on Aerodrome Certification, Incorporating Pans-Aerodromes for Eastern and Southern African States" is an initiative of the Angolan National Civil Aviation Authority in coordination with the International Civil Aviation Organization and will run until Friday.
