Stocks on Wall Street trade higher at the start of the session
The New York Stock Exchange traded higher today at the start of the session, on the same day that it was announced that the producer price index rose 0.5% between March and April.

At 2:47 p.m. (Lisbon time), the Dow Jones index rose 0.13% to 39,479.85 points and the Nasdaq technology index rose 0.23% to 16,425.59 points.
The S&P 500 index was at 5,224.77 points, up 0.07%.
On Monday, the New York Stock Exchange closed without a defined direction, with the Dow Jones falling 0.21%.
The US Department of Labor (DOL) reported today that its producer price index rose 0.5% between March and April, after falling 0.1% in the previous month.
In turn, compared to the same period last year, it grew 2.2% in April, up from 1.8% in March.
Last week, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) said it was prepared to keep its key interest rate at 5.3%, a 23-year high.
Consumer price inflation has been falling since late 2022, but has stagnated in the first three months of the year.
