At the press conference after the extraordinary Council of Ministers that approved the construction of the new airport in the Lisbon region at the Alcochete Firing Range, on the south bank of the Tagus, the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, explained that the next steps to be taken are the contractual obligations of the airport concessionaire.
The concession contract signed between the State and VINCI, at the time of the privatization of ANA concluded in 2013, provides for deadlines that can vary between 36 and 46 months, just for the concessionaire's application for the new airport.
"It is not acceptable, we will start negotiations with ANA, the concessionaire, tomorrow [Wednesday] in order to shorten these deadlines", assured the minister.
According to the concession contract, ANA has to prepare the Initial Report "High Level Assumption Report" within six months and the State (grantor) has to request the preparation of the application for the new airport within 30 days.
The application must include the consultation report (six-month deadline), the report on the selected location and the environmental impact study (12-month deadline), the technical report (18-month deadline) and the financial report (24-month deadline).
