Wall Street closes higher with Nasdaq at record
The New York stock exchange closed today with a clear rise, with the Nasdaq technology index closing in unprecedented territory, while relevant figures on consumption and price variation in the USA are expected.

The final results of the session indicate that the Nasdaq appreciated 0.75%, which allowed it to set a new record at the close of the day, with 16,511.18 points, while the selective Dow Jones Industrial Average progressed 0.32% and the broad S&P500 advanced 0.48%.
Investors downplayed the information known today about wholesale prices in April, which rose above expectations, just on the eve of the release of the consumer price index.
The producer price index (PPI) accelerated more than anticipated to 0.5% monthly, compared to the previous month, after 0.1% negative in March (number revised down), but it was expected 0.3%.
Investors remained calm in the face of this rise in production prices, largely due to energy and services, and focused on the fact that the March data was revised down, which offset the April rise.
"The numbers were stronger than expected, but so were the revisions. So, if you net the two out, you come up with something that's more or less where we should be," commented Steve Sosnick of Interactive Brokers.
"So the data was more or less in line with expectations," he summarized.
The observed variation in the PPI left the president of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, undisturbed.
"We didn't expect it to be easy, but the numbers were higher than expected," he said during a conference in the Netherlands.
"What this shows us is that we should be more patient and let the restrictive policy take effect," he said.
